The Teach Cheshire partnership is based around the Macclesfield and Poynton area. The secondary hub is led by The Fallibroome Academy with placements at All Hallows, Poynton and The Macclesfield Academy. Our primary hub is led by Broken Cross Primary Academy and contains a contrasting family of schools, ranging from small, rural schools to large urban primary schools.
As a Teach Cheshire trainee, you are fully immersed into wider school life, with the opportunity to build up strong relationships with the staff and students in each placement school. You spend time in two different partnership schools; Term 1 and 3 being in your main placement school and term 2 being in a contrasting school.
Our team of experienced and enthusiastic mentors will be with you every step of the way. Whilst on placement, your school will offer a rewarding programme of CPD tailored to your needs. In addition, there are a number of joint development days, each held in a different Teach Cheshire school giving you the chance to meet all the trainees on the programme and experience a number of different contexts. This combines with the work covered at university to help you learn about effective teaching and learning, behaviour management, curriculum planning and assessment strategies.
At Teach Cheshire we are proud to be supporting the development of the next generation of teachers and aspiring, leaders. You will be joining an established community of teaching professionals, who are committed to using research and evidence-based practice to support the initial training of our student teachers.
We have high completion rates and excellent employment outcomes, with a high proportion of trainees securing jobs in the local area.
We welcome applications from recent graduates and from career changers.
We partner with 2 universities, both judged to be outstanding.
You have around 40 university study days which give you the opportunity to build a strong subject specialism network. With The University of Manchester, these days tend to blocked in September, January and March. University tutorials are held at The University of Manchester campus on Oxford Road, Manchester. With The University of Chester, these days tend to fall on Fridays across the year and tutorials are held at The Riverside Campus, Chester or at Wade Deacon High School, Widnes
We are now closed for applications from International fee-paying applicants. International applicants who wish to apply to the University of Manchester Secondary PGCE should do so directly to the core PGCE programme in the relevant subject.
